Westport Covered Bridge in Decatur County suffered siding damage

The Westport Covered Bridge in Decatur County has suffered damage on both side during the recent flooding caused by heavy rains.  The Society visited the bridge during our Summer Trip to see the damage first hand.  Both sides of the bridge are missing large portions of siding as it was pulled down when a tree went under the bridge.  It is believed that the damage is cosmetic, but the bridge remains closed until it can be repaired.  We were able to walk across the bridge when we visited.  Photo by Judy Greeson, June 28, 2021.
